Practice background
Sandra V. Aguilar is a Licensed Professional Counselor and the founder of Next Move, TLC in Georgetown, Texas. Her practice concentrates on families in transition, with particular depth in reunification therapy and in cases that run alongside active litigation.
Much of her caseload arrives through the family court system. She has spent years working with attorneys, guardians ad litem, amicus attorneys, and judges, which means she is fluent in the language of orders, filings, and testimony as well as the language of grief, anger, and repair.
That dual fluency is the point. A therapist who does not understand the legal frame can accidentally undermine a case. An attorney who does not understand child development can push a schedule a child cannot absorb. Sandra sits in the middle of those two worlds and keeps the child's experience at the center.
She also carries the ordinary, quieter work of a counseling practice: adults facing anxiety and loss, couples deciding what comes next, teenagers handling a family situation they had no say in, and families formed through adoption.

How Sandra works
Honest before comfortable
Families in conflict have usually been managed and placated for a long time. Sandra says the true thing plainly, then helps everyone carry it.
The child sets the pace
Reunification cannot be forced onto a schedule. Progress that ignores a child's readiness tends to reverse. The plan moves as fast as the child can genuinely move.
No surprises for the court
When work is court involved, everyone should know what is being reported, in what form, and to whom. Clarity protects the family and the process.
Both parents get a real hearing
Sandra listens to each parent fully. Being heard is not the same as being agreed with, and both are necessary for the work to hold.
Realistic expectations
Not every family reconciles fully. A successful outcome may be a workable relationship rather than a healed one, and that is still worth the effort.
Practical structure
Sessions have an agenda. Homework is specific. Parents leave knowing what to do before the next appointment.
Start with a consultation
Every new matter begins with a short consultation so Sandra can hear the situation, explain how the work would run, and confirm whether she is the right fit.
